Survival kit in a sardine can
25 04 2008The Survival Kit in a Sardine Can is the handiest little survival kit you can own – and it’s literally packed in a sardine can. It contains:
- a compass
- whistle
- matches
- first aid instructions
- razor blade
- pencil
- non-aspirin pain reliever
- fire starter cube
- adhesive bandage
- energy nugget
- reflective signal surface
- fish hook & line
- duct tape
- wire clip
- note paper
- tea
- sugar
- salt
- gum
- watertight bag
- safety pin
- antibiotic ointment
- alcohol prep pad
All in an airtight, waterproof container. The survival kit can can be used to boil water or cook in, the lid as a signal mirror.

A few more items that will probably fit:
-Filter paper (folded cone)
-Iodine tablet(s)
-Matches would be better if wooden – easier to strike and can be used as kindling
Agreed. Water is a primary concern in a survival situation and the filter paper and iodine would be invaluable. The wooden matches are also a great suggestion!
A needle and thread (for stitches or clothing repair) seems like an obvious omission. Also, a box cutter would be far more useful than just a simple razor blade. The butt end could be used a tool or hard edge.
