These cakes, with the exception of maybe 1, are aesthetically abominable.

Misheala (12:49:30) :

I would feel guilty eating any of these cakes

Creative & Beautiful.

They’re beautiful but, how do they taste?

2 04 2009
db wheeler (02:54:24) :

There’s not a ‘cake’ in one of these pictures I would even remotely think about eating, let alone actually doing it. I’ll bet they’re all made of cardboard frames, with crisco frosting. blech!

Sweet!

Hahahahaha!

becca (03:47:55) :

those are beautiful, but i would never want to eat any of them. the cakes do not look appetizing at all.

Those are amazing! Who’s the baker? And where is that?

randy (07:33:18) :

some of these cake are amazing…..and some are just horrid… good god!! sometimes it doesn’t matter how much money you have, it doesn’t equal good taste.

dude (10:29:56) :

i’m positive a third of most of those cakes are purely fondant. Which makes for a excellent stomach ache if you decide to guzzle down a piece. All in all amazing work. Cakes have never been so good looking.

Royalty belongs in fairy tales, as show these cakes.

Rowan (22:34:09) :

I love the one that’s a stack of pillows. but how do you cut such odd shaped creations?

jen (22:42:17) :

Those cakes are beautiful but probably taste extremely bad .

Paola (00:03:03) :

The cakes are quite nice, but they don’t look like something I would necessarily consider yummy.

I’m hungry

Delicious Cake Nom Nom Nom!!!!

Melissa (06:28:10) :

I think you underestimate the cake designers here. If the cakes didn’t taste good they wouldn’t please the client who spent so much on the cake. On the contrary, these cakes probably taste amazing, if a little heavy on fondant.

emi (07:14:39) :

most of these are hideous. that Ace of Cakes show makes far more appealing cakes.

Tracy (08:24:33) :

Some are intricate and beautiful, others are just gaudy.. But as for them tasting bad, there’s no reason that an oddly shaped cake can’t taste absolutely delicious, and cutting them is not as complicated as it might seem. As for being covered in ‘crisco frosting’, how could you possibly tell, don’t be maliciously jealous :) Remember, all these rich people usually taste the cake before it’s even designed, I doubt they would pay gigabucks for a disgusting cake.

Julie (03:07:55) :

I don’t like the teetering cakes so much…like the “pillows” cake…I would be afraid of it falling over on my guests! But some of them are very beautiful and extravagant…I like the golden one right below the one that looks like a lit-up clock tower!

angela (09:50:37) :

you people are so busy complaining about how they taste, why don’t you try appreciating the time that went into them? a bunch of ignorants you are.

6 04 2009
Isra (21:27:48) :

Davey I agree completely hehe they are completely and utterly gaudy with the exception of one

6 04 2009
sweettooth (23:37:31) :

These are very nicely done, however some of the client’s choice in design are just ghastly..
And just because they look beautiful does not mean they taste bad. The worst part is that the fondant would probably be pretty thick, which in any case you can just peel it off.

6 04 2009
Jennifer (23:54:21) :

Well probably because they are CAKES. Wow – how weird that people would want to know how they taste. Talk about ignorant.
There are several essentials to good design of any kind, but in this case lets compare a cake to an architectural structure. Sure, it is important that it is appealing on the outside, but what is on the inside is equally if not more important. You can design a beautiful building, but if the structural engineering isn’t sound the building won’t last. Same with cakes- the best, most-well designed artistic achievements also must taste delicious. Otherwise turn off your oven and make creations out of clay or marble.

ricci (00:58:33) :

i wonder how you go about cutting some of those creations…

It should be in Kuwait based on the second photo which has three portraits of the members of the Royal Family, of Kuwait, ofcourse.

n0wheregirl (01:53:08) :

Yes, crisco fondant tastes awful, but I use a variation called marshmallow fondant – tastes incredible and looks just as good. So they MIGHT taste fine. You’re right about the gaudiness, but remember…you have to please your clients. A LOT of rich people like gaudy. Well done cakes, all.

Well .. I’m from Texas USA … I’m a baker… and let me tell you…..
these cakes are so beautiful and I’m pretty sure they taste Good to.. I have been in Egypt and there the cakes taste good…
And I don’t think royalty would to eat cake that taste bad… or serve the people something awful …They are royalty :)
I admire the creations on this page… and I’m sending a big congratulations to the bakers and decorators of these cakes
Like some people said….. some of them don’t look nice…….. but that is only in the eye of the beholder …. no one is the same as others… everyone has a different taste or how they wedding cake would look on their wedding day….
don’t be hard on the people who only make cakes as the client order ( is their day … Not our day) …. we can comment . but not to harsh ok! God bless you all .. good site :) )

Michael (13:53:31) :

I believe that the name is Gaudi not Gaudy :)

Agree they must taste delicious…and must take into consideration that each cake fits into the wedding design plan…so think of it as a whole…you don’t just find it in a shop and decide “hmm…i buy this one, it has more shapes than the other…and it’s blue !” :)

Those cakes are awesome, but they don’t look edible.

22 08 2009
Malene (13:05:08) :

These cakes are hideous. They are not particularly royal… I think.

I hope they taste well. What is the point in making such a cake if it isn’t good?
