Giethoorn, Venice of the North
21 02 2009Giethoorn, a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel, is an international tourist attraction in the Netherlands. In the old part of the village, there were no roads and all transport was done by water. Now there is a cycling path.



























Thats awesome, I imagine it would be very nice and quite as well as peaceful around there. Can you use a motor boat in the canals or only rowing?
A similar place with water roads can be found in germany in the Spreewald, but the homes don’t look that nice as in the Holland case.
And @Happy Hippie, in picture 4 you can see a motor attached to one of theboats.
I’ve been here and seen these places – it’s nice to see it again, and these photos are really good!
